Don Brent Wensauer is an esteemed independent real estate professional and the founder and president of Property Management Services, Inc., located in Oklahoma. Along with his thriving real estate career, he is a practicing attorney, approaching 45 years of experience in the legal field. His career is a testament to hard work, dedication, and the ability to successfully navigate law and real estate, two industries requiring unique skills and determination.
Don’s academic path began at Northwest Classen High School, where he actively participated in extracurricular activities. He participated in the debate team, earned a letter in wrestling, and was recognized as an outstanding athlete during his senior year. While many of his peers went on to attend Oklahoma State University, Don decided to enroll at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. After two years at the university, Don briefly spent time in Dallas before moving to Sebastopol, California.
In California, Don’s life took a distinctive turn when he lived in a commune on an estate that had once belonged to Charles Schulz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. During this time, Don worked as a grape picker in Napa Valley, where he developed a close bond with migrant workers. This experience provided him with an understanding of the hardships many face and influenced his perspective on life and work, shaping the values he holds today.
Although Don aspired to attend the University of California, Berkeley, financial challenges led him to return to Oklahoma. He enrolled at Southern Nazarene University, where he studied philosophy and religion. Later, he continued his education at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law, where he earned his law degree. While in law school, Don worked graveyard shifts at freight docks, further strengthening his work ethic and gaining a deeper connection to the working class.
After earning his law degree, Don was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association and began his career as a lawyer. However, in partnership with his father, his entry into real estate investment would be the start of a successful new venture. The early stages of his real estate career were promising, but Don encountered significant financial setbacks when the Oklahoma oil and real estate market crashed, leaving him with millions in debt. Faced with bankruptcy, Don chose not to file for it and dissolved his partnership with his parents to protect their assets.
Don could repay his debts and successfully rebuild his real estate portfolio through determination and negotiation with creditors. Today, Don oversees a real estate exchange fund that manages large residential portfolios, converting them into commercial properties. His work involves identifying profitable investment opportunities, making offers on high-value properties, and managing tax-deferred exchanges—complex processes that require sharp strategic thinking and decision-making. Don thrives in the high-pressure world of real estate. Managing large investments and making significant decisions under tight deadlines is difficult, but he excels. His ability to make strategic decisions and execute complex transactions has been key to his success, and he continues to find satisfaction in the challenges the industry brings.
Throughout his career, Don has earned several academic and professional achievements. While studying at Southern Nazarene University, he was honored with the Presidential Honor Award. Don earned a spot on the Dean’s Honor Roll at the University of Oklahoma's College of Law. He is a dedicated member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the American Bar Association, reflecting his continued commitment to his profession.
Outside of his professional life, Don is an active volunteer, contributing to various charitable causes. He regularly volunteers at First Step, a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and participates in the Behind the Walls ministry, which serves individuals incarcerated in Oklahoma prisons.
Don is also a member of AMBUCS, a civic organization that donates therapeutic tricycles to children and veterans with disabilities, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to his community.
Don’s interests reflect his diverse hobbies and passions. He has a longstanding interest in residential architecture and design and recently built his dream home on a lakeside property. His design choices were inspired by the architectural styles he admired in Naples, Florida. In addition to architecture, Don enjoys various outdoor activities, such as snow skiing, snowboarding, hiking, skydiving, scuba diving, and motorcycling. His love for motorcycling began in Texas and remains one of his favorite pastimes. Don also has a collection of contemporary art, unique timepieces, and classic muscle cars, showcasing his diverse tastes.
Don Brent Wensauer’s life and career are a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work. From his early experiences in California to his current real estate and law success, Don has navigated numerous challenges, always emerging stronger. As he approaches 45 years in the legal profession, Don continues to inspire those around him with his unwavering commitment to his work, dedication to personal growth, and desire to give back to the community.
